Designed for small organizations that struggle with how to preserve and organize archival materials in their collections, this workshop reviews proper storage and handling of collections, basic arrangement techniques, and affordable solutions for supplies and enclosures. The session will also address how to organize materials to make them accessible to researchers.

In this workshop, the presenter will take you through all the steps of creating a book, including defining the scope, researching and writing, creating financial goals, gathering illustrations, defining the market, printing, and marketing the volume to the public.

The Historical Society of Michigan announces its 2021 State History Award winners, recognized during the Annual Meeting and Michigan History Conference on September 24-25, 2021. The State History Awards are presented every year to individuals and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to the appreciation, collection, preservation and/or promotion of state and local history.
