You may know that Owosso has Curwood Castle, but did you know that it also has one of the finest concentrations of 19th-century homes in Michigan? Or that Woodard, Owosso's oldest company (1866-present), has one of its wrought iron furniture designs in the Smithsonian or that Thomas E. Dewey, of "Dewey Defeats Truman" fame, was born and raised in Owosso? Come explore the Pictorial History of Owosso Exhibit presented and curated by the Shiawassee Arts Center running from May 6, 2022, through August 14, 2022.
The free exhibition of more than 400 high-quality photographs, videos, and engaging stories on Owosso from 1836 to 1966, showcases what made the city so unique among other Michigan cities over the course of 130 years. The exhibit is an entertaining, enlightening, and educational tour of a city that was one vote shy of becoming the state capital. Visit shiawasseearts.org or call 989-723-8354 for more information.
