Details

  • Workshops are $49 for members and $89 for nonmembers (price includes a one-year HSM membership)
  • Doubleheaders offer a pair of morning and afternoon workshops of a similar theme, or you can register for the individual workshops
  • Workshops will be virtual until further notice
  • Registration closes the day prior to the workshop. "Walk-ins" are welcome to register by calling (800) 692-1828
  • Instructions for joining the virtual meeting (and any handouts) will be sent to registered attendees one day prior to the scheduled workshop

This workshop will go beyond the research ABCs, giving attendees the tools to find obscure sources of information, locate and identify categories of resources, organize information, and create a systematic approach to researching family histories.

Everyone Has a Story...What's Yours? Memoir Writing Workshop

This workshop will help you get started on the process of sifting through family tales and memories and will highlight techniques on how to piece together and preserve your family’s history. Odom will provide practical, in-depth methods of pulling together scraps of history—journal entries, letters, conversations with family members, and more—into a cohesive family story.

Military Uniforms, Patches, and Medals: Uncovering Military History

Do you have a uniform from your grandparents’ attic and do not know what it is? That old uniform may hold many clues about the where, what, and when of the wearer’s service. This workshop will cover the different types of U.S. military uniforms from WWI, WWII, Korea, and Vietnam and their corresponding insignia and medals, as well as how to identify and research them.
