Michigan in Perspective: Local History Conference
March 22-23, 2024, at Oakland University

Held annually in the spring in the Metro Detroit area, this conference is open to anyone interested in state or regional history. It is HSM's largest annual conference and includes several keynotes, content sessions, and more.

Our summer conference pays particular attention to U.P. history topics and themes, hosted by a new locale each year. The annual Upper Peninsula History Awards provide the capstone event of the conference.

September 26-29, 2024, in St Joseph/Benton Harbor

Our fall conference celebrates all aspects of Michigan’s history and offers a close-up look at the heritage of the host area. The event also contains the State History Awards and HSM's annual business meeting.

Have an idea for a conference session?

The Historical Society of Michigan welcomes submissions of sessions for consideration by the conference planning committee. If you are interested, please read the guidelines below and submit a session proposal.
