The Historical Society of Michigan announces its 2021 State History Award winners, recognized during the Annual Meeting and Michigan History Conference on September 24-25, 2021. The State History Awards are presented every year to individuals and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to the appreciation, collection, preservation and/or promotion of state and local history.

The Michigan Historical Review, the state's premier academic journal, will now be produced and published by HSM Publications.

Michigan students were among the thousands of participants competing in the virtual 2021 National History Day contest on June 13-19, 2021. Ten Michigan students received special honors at this year’s competition—including a first-place finish and one special prize.

The Historical Society of Michigan is expanding its series of recognition awards by launching the new Michigan Heritage Home™ program.

Retired U.S. District Judge Avern L. Cohn and his wife, Lois, of Birmingham recently donated more books and items to enhance the collection of the Lois and Avern Cohn Library and Archives, located at HSM's Meijer Center for Michigan History in Lansing.
