Rockwood Area Historical Society

The Rockwood Area Historical Society maintains a museum, which was dedicated in 2002, in a replica of the 1869 Rockwood railroad depot. Exhibits change about three times a year. Society also restored a 1968 ICG caboose, which was dedicated in 2005 and is available for tours at no cost.

The society’s collections include photos, documents, stories and artifacts relating to the Brownstown, Rockwood and South Rockwood areas, including Detroit River Light, Pointe Mouillee, industrial and automotive industries, domestic life, and decorative arts.
