Established in 1969 to preserve the history of Lapeer County and present it to the public through programs, materials and exhibits, and to establish a museum to exhibit artifacts relevant to that purpose.
The 1846 Courthouse is open during special events and by special arrangement for tours or activities.
Collections include general artifacts from Lapeer County, and information about MICOA Insurance Company (100+ years in Lapeer).
