Hillsdale County Historical Society, Hillsdale

Information:

The Will Carleton Poorhouse is a cobblestone house, built in the mid-1800's, which was once used as the Hillsdale County Poorhouse. It was the basis for the Will Carleton poem "Over the Hill to the Poorhouse." Various exhibits of historical nature, including General Store. The Society also operates a museum on the Fairgrounds of the Hillsdale Faire the last weekend in September.

Collections:

Collections include books, postcards and letters of local historical value, as well as hillsdale county artifacts.
